Video Tour: The ‘Room’ Obama Slept on His Kenyan Visit… Kempinski’s Presidential Suite

In a little over 48 hours, Obama will cease being United States president.

Donald Trump will be sworn in this Friday, becoming the 45th president of the United States. Just 2 months ago, very few people thought this was possible. The media and pollsters believed the US would be swearing in its first female president, but the American people had other plans.

The title ‘former US president’ does not have much prestige, and thus we decided to remember Obama while he’s still in office.

During his visit to Kenya in 2015, Obama spent 2 nights at the Villa Rosa Kempinski. Apart from the leader of the free world, the relatively new hotel has attracted dozens of other heads of state. In its first 18 months of operations, it had already hosted 12 presidents.

Why is everyone, including Obama, attracted to this hotel as opposed to other more ‘established’ ones?

The answer is in the presidential suite. This is the ‘room’ that Obama and most of these president sleep when they are in town.

That doesn’t mean it is reserved for presidents though. Anyone with Sh1.5 million can book it for a night.

Richard Crawford was granted exclusive access to the presidential suite and made a beautiful video for his YouTube channel.
