Mombasa County governor Ali Hassan Joho on Wednesday took a hands-on approach on the fight against corruption in his county. This was after he received a complaint from a businessman that two County Inspectorate officers were soliciting bribes from him.
Joho instructed the county investigations team to launch an immediate probe following the alert from one Peter Oluoch of Vipingo Ridge.
What ensued was an identification parade for Mr. Oluoch to identify the culprits.
The governor revealed that the businessman was able to point out the corrupt officers who were then interdicted immediate effect pending hearing of their cases.
“Swift , decisive and firm action will be taken against any corrupt officers in the County Government of Mombasa. My administration shall not tolerate corruption at any level and there shall be no sacred cows,” Joho stated in a statement.
