Machakos County governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has released a fresh batch of photos showing the progress of his record breaking Kithimani to Makutano Ma Mwala road.
The 33 km road was completed in a record 3 months in June 2014. The original KeNHA’s estimate was Sh1.6 billion, but Mutua built it for only Sh650 million.
Last week, reports emerged once again that the road was falling apart. A photo went viral showing a dilapidated road alleged to be the ‘fastest built highway in Africa.’
But according to Governor Mutua, the road is ‘getting better.’ Sharing photos on his Facebook page, he said:
“MAENDELEO CHAP CHAP FASTEST BUILT ROAD IN AFRICA CELEBRATES 3 YEARS AND IT IS GETTING BETTER – WELCOME AND TAKE A DRIVE ON THE 33 KM KITHIMANI – MAKUTANO MA MWALA ROAD CONSTRUCTED IN A RECORD 3 MONTHS.
INAWEZEKANA na ITAWEZEKANA”
