Addressing a Nakuru rally on Saturday, Gachagua brushed off efforts to fracture the Kikuyu, Embu, and Meru communities. He insisted that political and social ties define the Mt. Kenya region, not physical boundaries.
Gachagua claimed the president wants to fragment the region simply to shore up his own base.
“Huyu Kasongo anapanga ndiyo arudi kutumaliza, lazima agawanye Mlima. Ati atoe Nakuru, sababu nyinyi si watu wa mlima. Mlima, Kasongo, hauna mipaka. Mlima ni jamii, mlima ni sisi, wale tunaongea vile tunaongea,” Gachagua said.
He added that Ruto is actively trying to detach the Meru and Embu communities from the broader Mt. Kenya voting block.
“Anataka ati agawanye Wameru na Waembu, awaondoe ati ndio atukalie. Wewe Kasongo, mzungu mweupe, mweupe, si wewe mweusi, alijaribu kugawanya sisi, akashindwa. Moi mwenyewe, miaka ishirini na nne, alijaribu kutugawanya sisi, akashindwa,” he said.
Gachagua cautioned that these divisive tactics will backfire, comparing the plan to felling a massive mugumo tree with a tiny razor blade.
“Wewe Kasongo, kugawanya mlima ni kama kukata mti wa mgumo na wembe, utajiumiza kidole,” he said.
The former Deputy President further alleged that Ruto dispatched Kindiki to Embu to buy off elders and sway them away from the Mt. Kenya fold.
He openly questioned whether Kindiki could actually pull off such a scheme.
“Sasa ati ametuma Soprano huko Embu. Unajua Soprano? Yule bonoko. Ni bure si bure? Ati bonoko, ameita wazee wa Embu. Amewapatia fedha wazee wa Embu ati waondoke kwa mlima. Hao wazee wamechukua pesa, wamesema haiwezekani. Wamesema hawa ni kama watu wa Ol Kalou,” Gachagua said.
The DCP chief stood firm that the Kikuyu, Embu, and Meru communities will stay united regardless of any strategy to break up their political power.
“Anatumika na Kasongo kugawanya Mlima na haiwezekani. Sisi jamii ya Kikuyu na Waembu na Wameru, sisi tukiungana, hakuna mtu anayeweza kutugawanya. Na umoja wetu ndiyo nguvu yetu, si ndiyo?” Gachagua said.
