There was excitement in Homa Bay yesterday when the first commercial flight landed at the newly refurbished Kabunde Airstrip.
Homa Bay county government funded the facelift to the tune of Sh200 million, and already Fly 540 and another airline have announced commencement of flights there. The first passenger to land at the airstrip was none other than CORD leader Raila Odinga, accompanied by Homa Bay governor Cyprian Awiti.
The Fly 540 plane was closely followed by two helicopters carrying prominent personalities from the area.
A huge crowd surged forward when the fixed airplane came to a stop, to receive the former Premier.
