‘X Factor’ host Dermot O’Leary narrowly avoided being crushed by a car as he slept on a street while filming a documentary for ‘Comic Relief,’ a charity based in the United Kingdom.
The 41 year old star was filming with three homeless boys in Kisumu with the aim of highlighting their plight. The TV star was sleeping on a cold concrete street when a car steered off the road and crashed a few feet away from the four of them.
Dermot and the boys were badly shaken but they were unharmed as was the driver.
Comic Relief through their Red Nose Day twitter account tweeted about the near miss describing it as a “big lucky escape.”
A car has crashed into a ditch feet away from the boys. Everyone is fine, but a big lucky escape. #DermotKenya pic.twitter.com/KwOLARN2bE

Dermot later on appreciated the support he got during the rough filming:
Thanks for all the support for the last 24 hours here in Kenya @rednoseday met some pretty special little fellas. X
