On Tuesday, Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo issued a directive that all tinted vehicles be impounded with immediate effect through the police spokesperson, Zipporah Mboroki. “All vehicles with tinted windows are to be impounded with immediate effect.”
This measure was meant to help curb the rising cases of terrorism and insecurity. The directive did not ogre well with many vehicle owners in Kenya, who thought it would have been better they had a grace period to re-do their car windows.
However, the matter was clarified and the vehicles that ought not be tinted are public service only. These vehicles (matatus) are primary targets of terrorists as the number of people ferried is quite substantial.
