Machakos governor Alfred Mutua was accompanied by his wife, the 1st lady, as they visited victims of the fatal road accident at River Isivuno bridge. The accident claimed 13 lives. The dead, who are all believed to be relatives, were attending a dowry ceremony. This was Mutua’s message on Facebook.
Today accompanied by Machakos 1st Lady I visited the victims of the Saturday morning road accident at the Machakos Level 5 Hospital. I was happy to see them respond positively to medication and continue to urge doctors at the hospital to do their best to ensure they all fully recover.
It is painful to see us continue to lose lives through road accidents that are otherwise preventable. As a result, the Government of Machakos is going to erect guard rails, speed bumps and road signs to make our roads safe. The county administration is also going to take stern action against those who continue to break traffic rules.
I am putting on notice all corrupt officers who continue to put at risk lives of passengers by letting overloaded vehicles get past police checks -we are not going to stand and watch as more lives are lost under the watch of greedy people.
Quick recovery to those recuperating and let us remember them in our prayers. May the deceased Rest In Peace and to their families-I mourn with you. The Government of Machakos will foot all burial expenses and work closely with you to ensure you give them a befitting farewell.
