
To assist the company in cleaning up the city centre, the county has also deployed four garbage trucks. Nairobi county director of Environment, Leah Oyake Ombis , explained that the move was just the initial steps towards collection and disposal of over 2000 tonnes of garbage generated daily in Nairobi. “We want to delineate the ares as one unit of waste collection and give an independent waste collection company or a joint venture, the monopoly to collect waste, sweep streets and charge the residents,” Dr Oyake-Ombis told Nairobi News.
