Rapper Zaka is one of the few hardcore rappers Kenyan music industry can boast of. He is the brain behind classics such as Dandora L.O.V.E, Mizani and many more. He has enjoyed massive success in Kenya and abroad as well. As with many celebrities, substance abuse has been a major problem for him. However, he is clean now and has decided to give back to the society.
Zaka has embarked on the fight against drugs and substance abuse. According to him, substance abuse is the greatest enemy to success and development. He worked jointly with AMREF in 2012 and 2013 on a project dubbed ‘Swag Ni Life Bila Drugs’. He also worked on a parallel project in the same period. He told the standard that drug abuse is to blame for increased crime rates in our cities.
“At the end of the day, if we do not eradicate substance abuse, crime rates will never go down. All we need to do is move the youth away from drugs by empowering them through their talents,” he advises.
Zaka has also formed his own charity organisation called Makinika. He has roped in musicians like Juliani, Eko Dydda and even politicians such as Senator Mike Sonko, who have shown interests in the initiative.
The rapper is set to return to the music scene with his new album and will also host a show in a new urban radio station set to launch soon.
