Nairobi motorists will now have to pay increased parking fees, following a ruling by High Court Judge Isaac Lenaola dismissing an objection filed by matatu saccos.
Motorists who own saloon cars will now be required to pay Sh300, up from the current Sh 140 within the central business district. Outside the central business district, the parking fee increases to Sh 200.
The increase of parking fees was termed as an illegality by the 26 public vehicle saccos who had filed a case to dismiss it.
Hopefully this move will work towards reducing Nairobi’s traffic jams.
