Junior Officers Disrupt Police Walkie-Talkie Communication With Music, To Protest Failure To Increase Their Salaries.
Police in Nairobi were yesterday forced to use their personal mobile phones to communicate, after disgruntled officers jammed the communication network, claiming they were left out in salary increases to civil servants. Senior officers were forced to give orders through their personal cell phones after their Walkie-Talkies went silent.
It is reported that the disruptions started Monday Night, hours after public service minister Dalmas Otieno announced salary reviews. A senior who spoke to nation newspaper said that communication was on and off for the better part of yesterday. Several officers reported that their gadgets had also gone dead, while others said they could hear music playing.
