The second president of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe has died.
Mugabe died in Singapore, where he was being treated. The founding father has been visiting the Asian country for treatment, even long before he was ousted as president.
Mugabe was removed from power in November 2017 by his former Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
It was Mnangagwa who confirmed his passing Friday morning on Twitter.
”It is with the utmost sadness that I announce the passing on of Zimbabwe’s founding father and former President, Cde Robert Mugabe. Cde Mugabe was an icon of liberation, a pan-Africanist who dedicated his life to the emancipation and empowerment of his people. His contribution to the history of our nation and continent will never be forgotten. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”

Mugabe spent 30 years as the head of state of Zimbabwe, and build a reputation as a Pan-African. Some of his policies however left the economy of Zimbabwe shattered, including having the worst hyperinflation ever witnessed anywhere in the world.
May he rest in peace.
