cd plant1Nairobi is set to have a CD and DVD manufacturing plant soon. This will allow artists to incur lower costs in the production of their work.
According to Youth Enterprise Development Fund Chairman, Gor Semelang’o, this venture will go a long way in getting most of the artists out of their impoverished state despite their hard work.
“Kenyan artists will minimize on expenses and get maximum profits,” he said.
Semelang’o also challenged artists in Kenya to advocate for the implementation of the 60 percent local content law on TV stations and Radio. Reflecting on the achievement of Nigerian artists as a result of such laws, he said, “This law has to be reinforced for us to see growth in the enertainment industry. Nigerian artists are doing very well because regulation there demands that 80 per cent of the content aired must be local.”
