Kiss FM’s new breakfast show hosts Kamene Goro and Andrew Kibe have been unable to take up their new job after they were sued by former employer NRG radio.
According to court documents, NRG cite a non-compete clause in the presenters’ contracts. Upon resigning, Kamene and Kibe paid their ex-employer three months salary in lieu of notice.
NRG’s application states, “the period of three (3) months is reasonable to restrain the Respondent considering the substantial investment made on him [Kibe] and to safeguard the Applicant’s business considering the Applicant is willing to pay the Respondent during the non-competition period.”
NRG Radio wants the court to “grant a temporary order of injunction restraining the Respondent from performing services for, carrying or being engaged or interested or concerned directly or indirectly or publicly identifying with the promotion of or the services provided by, any other radio station within the Republic of Kenya or in any business which in anyway competes with the Applicant’s business pending the hearing and determination of this application.”

At the same time, Kamene’s and Kibe’s new employer – Radio Africa Group – has vowed to defend them
Radio Africa’s CEO Patrick Quarcoo said, “We shall aggressively defend our employees on this suit.”
On Monday, Kamene Goro posted to her socials that she was still in limbo.
“I don’t exactly know what the future holds for me at this point, but I can guarantee I’m moving forward with aggressive Grit, anchored fully in Grace,” said the former Ebru TV presenter.
