John Kinyua Ndei, a 38-year-old man from Chuka, Tharaka-Nithi County, has pleaded guilty to sodomizing three minors.
Appearing before Chuka Senior Resident Magistrate Mwanamkuu Sudi on Monday, June 3, the apparent pedophile confessed and sought the court’s forgiveness, promising to change his behaviour.
The sex pest molested the three primary school boys, aged six to ten years, between December 2018 and May this year.
In December of last year, the Court heard that the accused met with a 10-year-old boy and asked him to accompany him to his house. When the minor declined, Mr Kinyua dragged him to his room, undressed him and sodomized him.
After committing the indecent act, the accused forced the minor to dress up, handed him 10 shillings and asked him to leave.
The Court was further told that on May 27, 2019, the suspect waylaid a six-year-old boy who was going to fetch water from a nearby river and asked him to go to his house. The minor refused, with the suspect abducting him to his house where he sodomised him before giving him 10 shillings.
When the boy went home, he reported the ordeal to his parents and his teacher.
The Chuka Court also heard that between May 26 and 27, the accused abducted a third boy who was going to watch television at a friend’s home. He reportedly carried him to his house where he sodomised him repeatedly and also gave him 10 shillings.
On May 31, the boy and his friend were found by a teacher fighting over 10 shillings and upon interrogation, they disclosed that one of them was given the money by the accused.
The teachers made a citizen’s arrest on the suspect at his home and handed him over to Chuka Police Station with the help of Kiamucii Senior Assistant Chief Celina Kanjiru.
A medical report from Chuka County Referral Hospital confirmed the boys were sodomized.
Chuka Senior Resident Magistrate Mwanamkuu Sudi ordered one of the boys whose birth certificate had not been produced in court undergo age assessment.
The suspect is expected back in court tomorrow, Wednesday 5 for sentencing.
