A team of neurosurgeons at Kenyatta National Hospital yesterday successfully removed the bullet in baby Osinya’s head. This was after a three hour operation. The 18 month old baby is now stable and out of danger.
“Baby Osinya, who had a bullet lodged in his head in the Likoni Church Shooting on 23 March, has been operated on and the bullet was removed. ” the government announced on Twitter.
The news was somewhat a shocker, as the surgeons had said they would be announcing a date for the surgery. Perhaps they did not want to work under pressure from the media and the public.
Baby Osinya was shot when gunmen opened fire on worshippers at a church in Likoni.
Elsewhere, radical muslim cleric Abubakar Shariff alias Makaburi was yesterday shot dead. He was shot outside Shimo La Tewa Prison in Shanzu.
Makaburi, who was a close friend of fallen Sheikh Aboud Rogo, had been caught on camera on several occasions advocating for violence and murder. He also preached that Al-Shabaab were justified in their deeds.
