SHA Begins Paying Out Old NHIF Claims Worth Ksh10 Million and Below

August 14, 2026

The Social Health Authority (SHA) has issued an update regarding the disbursement of verified pending claims worth Ksh10 million and below inherited from the defunct National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).

In a statement released on Wednesday, August 12, the health agency confirmed that it is processing the payouts following a joint claims verification and sign-off exercise conducted alongside healthcare facilities.

SHA noted that it will disburse the funds in four distinct tranches, having already processed the initial batch.

“Following the claims verification and sign-off exercise, payments will be made in four batches. The first batch has been processed, and the list of facilities paid in this batch is attached and available on the SHA website at https://sha.go.ke/,” the statement read.

To finalize the settlement process, SHA urged medical institutions requiring clarity on their claims to work directly with its officers and submit any outstanding documentation.

“Facilities requiring clarification are requested to cooperate with SHA teams and provide any supporting information or documents required to complete the process,” the statement added.
