Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has expressed strong confidence in winning a second term, pointing to his development record and arguing that the capital urgently needs steady, uninterrupted leadership.
Looking ahead to the upcoming elections, Sakaja announced plans to campaign on his achievements while presenting a fresh vision for the city. If successful, he would break a historical precedent, becoming the first Nairobi governor to secure back-to-back mandates.
“I will be back to Nairobi residents with humility, present my manifesto and account for what I have done, and plead with them. I will make history as the first governor to be re-elected for a second term,” he said.
The governor warned that political instability and frequent leadership shifts have repeatedly derailed key infrastructure projects across the city. He stressed that maintaining continuity at City Hall remains essential if residents are to experience the full benefits of decentralized governance.
“The start and stop in Nairobi leadership denies residents proper development and leaves projects unfinished. To give Nairobians a feel of devolution, it is good we have consistent leadership. I am confident we shall make history,” Sakaja said.
