Nairobi Traffic Alert: Part of Waiyaki Way to Close From July 31

July 27, 2026

Motorists using Waiyaki Way should prepare for traffic delays starting Friday, July 31, 2026, as crews temporarily close a portion of the Mombasa-bound carriageway between GTC and Kempinski for road maintenance.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) issued a notice explaining that the partial closure will run through Monday, August 31, 2026, to allow workers to complete necessary repairs along the affected stretch.

The agency noted that the closure impacts part of Waiyaki Way (A8 Road) and advised drivers traveling through the area to use the remaining open lanes or seek alternative routes to avoid heavy traffic.

“All Motorists intending to use Waiyaki Way during this period will utilize the unclosed sections of this road as well as consider using alternative routes to ensure minimal traffic disruption,” KeNHA said.

KeNHA also urged drivers to follow the temporary traffic plan and cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals directing vehicles near the construction site.

“Motorists are further advised to follow the proposed traffic management plan as well as cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” the Authority said.

The roads agency added that normal traffic will resume as soon as crews finish the repair work.

“Normal traffic operations on the road will be restored upon completion of the works,” KeNHA said.
