President Ruto – What God taught us in August 2022 election

April 13, 2023

President William Ruto says he took a valuable lesson from the August 2022 General Election as he lost many friends in the run-up to the polls.

Speaking Tuesday when he joined the Muslim faithful for Iftar organized by the Eastleigh Business District Association at KICC, Dr Ruto said he fell out with “wealthy and powerful” acquaintances due to politics.

“We had a very hard time in the last elections because there was a lot, I myself lost many friends because of the politics that was there,” he said.

President Ruto mentioned that he could not “worship human beings because they have power or wealth”.

“There is something God taught us in this election, and he taught us that apart from having the ability and power of a human being there is a God who decides.

“If a human being cannot be satisfied with honour and begins to ask us to worship him, that is something we should not accept,” Ruto said.

He added: “It does not matter who they are or the power they wield, how much wealth they control, as human beings we are all equal in the eyes of the Lord and the Constitution.”
