Celebrated Kenyan actress Catherine Kamau was one of four Kenyan women who emerged winners at the just concluded Ladies in Media Awards (LIM).
Kate Actress scooped the African Female Actor of the Year, beating Darlyn Adu Gyamfi (Ghana), Melissa Kiplagat (Kenya), Temitope Olowoniyan (Nigeria), Haillie Sumney (Ghana) and Nambitha Ben-Mazwi (South Africa).
“Thank you so much Ladies in Media Awards and to you my peeps, asanteni sana. This is our win,” Kate Actress said in a social media post.
Other Kenyan winners were Swahili Prime-Time News Anchor Fridah Mwaka who won Outstanding Female News Anchor of the Year and radio personality Maria Makau who won the Emerging Female Radio Personality of the Year award.
“Thank you so much to my African family, especially my Kenyan brothers and sisters for believing in me and going all out and voting for me,” Makau said.
On her part, NTV News presenter Fridah Mwaka, who was hosting the LIM awards event, said she was humbled.
“I am humbled, I don’t know what the future holds but I can say I am truly humbled for the steady growth, thank you, Africa,” she said.
Communication expert Lizz Ntonjira won the African Female Author of the Year.
She said: “Wow! We brought it home to 🇰🇪. Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote. I’m beyond grateful 🙏🏿I’m so honoured & humbled by this recognition.”
Meanwhile, Citizen TV’s Victoria Rubadiri received special recognition for the impact she has made in her decorated career.
