A 28-year-old man was Tuesday charged with sexually assaulting two minors and producing a pornographic film of the acts.
Patrick Mbauni alias Pat ARV alias Daddy was arraigned before chief magistrate Hon Elizabeth Osui at the Malindi law courts, where he faced two counts of defilement, four counts of child pornography and four counts of child trafficking.
A charge sheet produced in court indicated that Mbauni sexually assaulted the minors at his rented house in Kisumu Ndogo area within Malindi Sub-County on diverse dates between August, 2022 and January 11, 2023.
He is also accused of committing an indecent act with the minors using his hands.
The suspected sex pest was further charged with child pornography, where he is accused of producing pornographic videos of the minors using his mobile phone.
Mbauni is also accused of being in possession of obscene photos of the two minors. He allegedly produced the pornographic material on December 9 and 11 last year.
On child trafficking charges, the suspect was accused of harboring four boys aged between 10 and 12 for purposes of sexual exploitation.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) described Mbauni as a notorious pedophile.
He was arrested in Malindi last Wednesday after detectives based at the DCI Academy intercepted disturbing content online, portraying the 28-year-old abusing the minors.
“The sleuths using a specialized software for flagging such content online, went for the paedophile who runs a football foundation in Malindi, which he has been using to lure the innocent minors before engaging them in the beastly act. Medical tests later confirmed that two of the minors had been sexually abused,” said the DCI.
Investigating officer, Sergeant Wycliff Jefwa, informed the court that the suspect founded Pat Arve football club where he has been child grooming his victims.
“The accused person has a great attachment to the victims to the extent that they refer to him as daddy since he pays for their upkeep…there is likelihood of the victims being compromised,” Jefwa told the magistrate as he applied to have the suspect denied bond.
The suspect denied all the charges and was remanded pending bond ruling. The case will be mentioned on February 7.
