A woman has been charged in court for allegedly colluding with another man to beat up a police officer in Lang’ata, Nairobi.
Sophia Nyambura was charged with causing grievous harm to Charles Mukamba Gitiba on October 16 at Park 2 estate, in Langata sub county.
The court heard that Nyambura parked her car with bright lights next to the complainant’s car, resulting in an argument.
The accused then allegedly teamed up with a man not before the court and beat up the police officer.
Nyambura denied the charges and through her lawyer, Benson Nzakyo, told the court that she was not a flight risk.
“She was arrested on Friday and has been in custody since then. I urged the court to grant him a lenient cash bail,” the lawyer said.
Nzakyo said that the accused person’s family was only in a position to pay Sh50,000 cash bail.
Chief magistrate Ann Mwangi released the accused on Sh50,000 cash bail.
The case will be mentioned in two weeks’ time.
