Sakaja Declares Bid For Nairobi Governor

November 3, 2021

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja says he will vie for Nairobi Governor in the 2022 General Election.

Sakaja claims that he knows and understands the city better than anyone having served as Senator for 10 years. He noted that his friends, supporters and former critics are of the same opinion.

“I have been listening to a lot of people who even then were not in support but now, realize, that we need someone like myself who has been in this city, has seen all this level of leadership,” he said.

“I’m currently the senator and that is the direction am heading to. To serve the people of Nairobi in the position of the governor with a proper vision of what we want to achieve within the next 10years,” Sakaja told Capital FM News.

The Senator at the same time said he eyed the capital’s gubernatorial seat in 2016 but shelved his plans due to political forces.

“Initially in 2016 I was vying for the position of the governor but the political dynamics at the point did not allow me. That is why I switched to the senator. That did not change my dreams for this city. That didn’t change my vision for working capital of the global hub,” he said.

Sakaja boasted that he is the best performing senator in the country in terms of oversight.

“I have brought most number of questions in the senate with respect to my county. No other senator has dealt with their county in terms of oversight in the same manner,” Sakaja said.

“Beyond just doing, I think the greatest achievement has been to give hope to young people. That indeed young people can take leadership responsibly, can be in charge and take this country to the next level,” he added.
