Raila Laughs Off ‘State Project’ Claims, Says Uhuru Laughed Too

November 12, 2021

Following his dalliance with the government via a handshake with Uhuru Kenyatta, there have been reports that Raila Odinga is being primed to succeed the President in 2022.

However, Raila has continued to rubbish these claims; he did it again on Thursday in an interview with Ukambani vernacular radio stations.

The ODM Party leader said the reports that he is a state project are laughable. And he’s not the only one who was amused by the assertions.

“Can I be someone’s project? I laugh off these. Uhuru is also laughing when he hears that I am being branded his project. I am Kenyans’ project,” Odinga said on Thursday.

Raila said there was no way he could be someone’s project owing to his history in Kenyan politics.

The former Prime Minister said he was his own man and that his wish is to unite Kenyans hence the handshake.

Raila also dismissed reports that One Kenya Alliance leaders have been coerced to back him in the 2022 Elections.

“I have heard of people speaking of phone calls. I have not been called. There is no time we have sat and coerced to support another,” he said.

“I have not announced I am vying. When I decide to vie, it will be known. Our friends have their plans and programmes. We can’t say how it must be done but we are ready to work with them,” Raila added.
