Revered journalist Lolani Kalu is all set for his big comeback on television after bagging a media role with TV47.
The former ‘Malimwengu’ show presenter has put pen to paper on a one-year contract with the station, where he will serve as the Coast region reporter for T47.
Lolani Kalu said he bagged the deal after fans spotted him with an apron branded TV47.
“I have signed a one-year deal with TV47, the opportunity came after fans saw me shooting my personal shows with one of the artists I was interviewing having TV47 branding.
“Fans called TV47 to find out if I had signed a deal with the station, and that prompted them to hand me a contract. I will be a coast regional reporter covering the six counties,” he said.
An elated Lolani said he hopes to revive some of his shows such as Malimwengu na Lolani and Gumzo Mtaani.
“I want to appreciate fans who did a fundraiser for me through some of the shows that I will do. Some of them have started suggesting the stories they would want to be covered. I was already doing some of my shows that focused on the impact of Covid-19 on local artists, and I plan to do that in all the 47 counties,” he said.
Lolani said discussions are in progress with TV47 to set an exact date for his big TV comeback.
He also thanked Kenyan wellwishers who helped him raise money for a camera, sound equipment, and computer.
