A 56-year-old man met his untimely death at the hands of his own brother in Homa Bay County on Tuesday.
Joseph Olale, who worked in Ahero in Kisumu County, had traveled to his rural home at Kamato Pundo village in Suba North Constituency to be enumerated in the national census only to be killed by his younger brother Ben Olale over an unresolved land dispute.
Lambwe West location Chief Daniel Obure said a fistfight ensued between the two before the suspect hacked his elder brother to death with a machete.
The administrator noted that the incident occurred a few hours after census officials had visited the homestead and enumerated the family.
Police Commander for Mbita Sub-County, Mr Charles Mwangi, said the suspect had fled after the incident but was later arrested.
He said the suspect is expected will be arraigned on murder charges.
