Celebrated reggae disc jockey and emcee Chris Odhiambo alias DJ Kriss Darlin is looking to fill the void occasioned by the death of Ken Okoth in Kibra constituency.
The entertainer has joined the race for the parliamentary seat and officially presented his documents to ODM headquarters on Wednesday, August 21. This was hours after the Raila Odinga-led party invited potential aspirants to submit their papers.
The NTV Jamrock show host says he is the right man for the job given that he worked closely with the late Ken Okoth to develop Kibra.
“The people of Kibra need someone who knows them and knows what they actually need… and that’s exactly what I’m offering. I have been there with them, I was born there, I know what they go through on a daily basis,” said the DJ.
The reggae spin master further revealed that he would continue deejaying should he pass the ODM nomination and cinch the seat.
“I earn a decent living as a Reggae DJ, I’m very comfortable, I go on tours worldwide, and I will never stop doing it…but I can only reach so many people with that. I want to represent the people of Kibra, I want to be their voice and air out their issues on a bigger platform,” he told eDaily.
The Kibra Constituency by-election will be held on November 7, 2019.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in a gazette notice directed all political parties intending to participate in the by-election to forward names of aspirants who will participate in the party primary elections as well as the date of the primaries on or before Monday August 26, 2019.
