A warrant of arrest has not been issued against city lawyer Assa Nyakundi, his lawyer Danstan Omari has said.
This is in response to reports by Mediamax news outlets that Nyakundi is on the run and is being tracked down by detectives from Special Crime after a court issued a warrant of arrest against him.
Detectives are reportedly suspicious that Assa Nyakundi could abscond trial after he failed to appear in court on Thursday last week.

According to K24 TV and People Daily newspaper, efforts by the DCI to reach him proved futile; he could not be found at his residence in Muthaiga or at the hotel where he used to stay in Kilimani.
“He has not been seen and cannot be reached on phone. Our officers are looking for him,” the local daily quotes DCI boss George Kinoti.
But speaking to Citizen Digital on Monday, Assa Nyakundi’s lawyer dismissed the reports as false saying they will seek legal redress against the media company.
“How can the police say they are looking for him (Assa Nyakundi) at his house, yet there are orders restraining him from accessing his house?” Omari posed.
He stated that he has received instructions to sue K24 over the report that DCI sleuths could not reach Mr. Nyakundi on phone nor find him at his home.
Assa Nyakundi was on April 26 charged with manslaughter for shooting dead his son Joseph Bogonko on March 17 in Nairobi. He was released on a cash bail of Sh.300,000.
