A Master’s student at the University on Nairobi has been arrested for extorting money from Members of Parliament.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested the student, 30-year-old Alex Anyolo on Wednesday. He is accused of sending threatening messages to Njoro MP Charity Kathambi Chepkwony, who lodged a complaint with police.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said Mr Anyolo had been sending threatening messages to five other lawmakers.
