A sibling rivalry ended in tragedy in Rangwe Sub-County, Homa Bay after a Class 7 pupil killed his elder brother over a pair of trousers.
Reports indicate that the fight ensued between the two after the suspect wore a pair of trousers belonging to his elder brother.
It is said that the suspect wore a clean pair of trousers belonging to Charles Omondi but refused to clean it after, an issue that resulted in the heated altercation.
The fight ended tragically when Charles Omondi was stabbed with a kitchen knife in his stomach.
Omondi, 18, was rushed to Rangwe sub-county Hospital and later referred to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu where he succumbed while receiving treatment.
Confirming the incident, area Chief Peter Otieno said villagers marched the suspect to the police station.
“The incident angered the villagers who frog-marched the suspect to Rangwe police station where he is still being held awaiting to be arraigned before court,” Otieno said.
