CCTV Footage Leads to Arrest of Notorious Kilimani Gang of House Burglars

February 26, 2019

DCI detectives have arrested four suspected members of a gang that has been terrorising residents of the upmarket Kilimani estate in Nairobi.

The four; Peter Kaari alias ‘Pinches’ aka ‘Walker’, Veronica Kamau alias ‘Veroh’, Lawrence Alusala alias ‘Nico’, and Alex Nderi alias ‘Ade’, were arrested on Sunday after the DCI reviewed CCTV footage of the gang in action at a building in Kilimani.

In the footage dated Wednesday, 13, February 2019, two suspects are seen walking out of the building some minutes past 7 pm. One of them can be seen carrying a gun as security guards look on helplessly.

Moments later, a get-away Prado is driven out of the compound before the two suspects board and drive off.

After reviewing the footage, detectives identified the Prado with fake number plates and traced it to a broker who had hired it out to some suspects.

A trap was laid and the four suspects were arrested.

“Upon interrogation, one of the suspects led the detectives to Kwihota in Ruiru Town whereby a firearm which was reported robbed from a Chinese national loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition was recovered. 2 vehicles detained; firearm submitted to Ballistics for forensic examination,” the DCI said.

The detectives also recovered an assortment of keys and door-breaking tools.

The suspects were arraigned in court on Monday with police being allowed more time to detain them as further investigations continue.
