A violent disagreement between a man and his wife in Huruma, Nairobi has claimed the life of the woman’s 18-year-old son.
The deceased, Dennis Mwema, had tried to intervene in the Tuesday morning fight when Euticus Githinji stabbed him twice in the chest.
Reports indicate that he bled to death while his mother, Eunice Wanza, sustained minor injuries.
The attacker fled the scene as officers at the Huruma police station took up the matter.
Narrating the ordeal, Wanza said Githinji, her husband of eight years, returned home drunk at around 3 am when a verbal altercation ensued.
When it turned into a fist fight, their son who was asleep woke up and attempted to stop Githinji.
The suspect then reportedly turned on his stepson with kicks and blows and dragged him into the kitchen where he stabbed him twice.
Neighbours who heard Wanza’s distress call rushed to the scene but were unable to access the court because Githinji had locked the door from inside.
Wanza said Githinji disappeared after realising he had killed her son.
The incident comes just a day after another domestic quarrel turned tragic in Dandora. A 46-year old hawker on Monday night killed his wife and chopped off her hands in their home.
Humprey Maina killed Lucy Njeri after a fight over money before taking his own life by drinking pesticide.
