Everything About this Young Akorino Professional Who Works for World Bank will Impress You

June 2, 2017

Allow us to introduce to you one of the most impressive young Kenyan professionals doing Kenya proud. He goes by the name David Wachira but his father insists he is Dr. Wachira.

The first thing you will notice about Mr Wachira is his Akorino turban. In fact, when Julie Gichuru first met him weeks ago in Washington DC, she asked for a picture with him because she had never seen a “Man of the Cloth” (Akorino) outside Kenya.

But his religion aside, David Wachira has an impressive profile and works in one of the world’s most prestigious institutions, The World Bank.

He handles operations, analytic and advisory work in the roles he has been assigned to in the global institution.

He started his work at World Bank as a Young Professional before he moved on to his role as a public sector specialist in the Governance Global Practice sector which he has been working on since September 2013.

Mr Wachira is also a part-time lecturer having taught public policy in the Political Science department at Southern Methodist University (SMU). He has also served as a teaching fellow in University of North Texas and as an assistant professor of History and Economics at Wiley College.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, a master’s degree in History from Tarleton State University and a PhD in Public Administration and Management (Public Finance and Public Management from the University of North Texas.)

Wachira’s CV is pretty impressive but so are other aspects of his life. His accent, for example, wowed Kenyans when Julie Gichuru shared the clip below on Instagram.

Mr Wachira is also without a doubt Kenya’s most stylish ‘wagithomo’ and cleans up nice in perfectly-tailored suits and stylish shoes.

When he is not working, Wachira likes to play golf, work on a ranch in Texas and drink his tea from an enamel cup because it reminds him of “how far we have come and how far God has brought us.”

Check out some of his pics.
