Captain Alistair Patrick Llewelyn, the pilot who made headlines last week after a video of him slapping and shoving a female police officer went viral on social media, has been released.
The captain was charged with causing disturbance and assault in Nyandarua County on Sunday February 21, 2016. The pilot had reportedly lost his cool after a police officer, Corporal Mercy Wandera, was reluctant to control a crowd that was milling around a helicopter that had flown Deputy President William Ruto to a church fundraiser at Ndunyu Njeru.
The pilot was on Monday freed on a bond of Sh750,000 or alternative Sh250,000 cash bail by Engineer town court in Kinangop, Nyandarua County.
He had been detained in police custody since Friday after he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
