Nairobi County senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko has stepped aside to pave way for investigations. This is after his name made it to Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission’s list of shame.
The senator released a statement on social media saying he was surprised and dismayed that his name was included. According to the commission, Sonko allegedly colluded with Energy CS Davis Chirchir to siphon amounts of up to 1.3 billion shillings from a Kenya Pipeline Company procurement deal.
Following his statement, most people brushed it off as an April Fool’s day joke but Sonko has reiterated that it is not.
