Just like his predecessors, President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday presided over the destruction of illegal ivory. Kenya has been facing dwindling elephant numbers as a result of poaching, and what better way to demonstrate the government’s determination to reverse this, than through the burning of 15 tonnes.
It was during an event to mark the commemoration of the African Environment, Wangari Maathai Day, and the World Wildlife Day at Nairobi National Park.
