‘OccupyPlayGround’ Plus All Other Trending Images This Tuesday

Yesterday was a dark day for Kenya as Langata played host for scenes not witnessed in Africa since the ’70s. Pupils of Langata Primary School were teargassed by police officers as they demonstrated to demand that their grabbed playground be returned.
There’s a line of thinking being brought forward that the activists are to blame for putting the children in the line of danger, but it’s clear that there would have been really no danger if the police did their job well. In short, the police were the danger.
In any case, we’ve seen school children demonstrate before but the police have never reacted like they did yesterday… Perhaps because in yesterday’s case, a big man is involved.
