Digital TV provider GOTv has cut the price of its decoders by Sh1000, from Sh3,399 to Sh2,399.
This is in readiness for next month’s world cup, where they expect to give their rivals the knockout punch. Their parent company, Multichoice, has enjoyed monotony in the lucrative English Premier League football market, through Supersport which only shows on DSTV and now GOTv.
However, in a bid not to ‘kill’ DSTV, the South African owned company only shows minor matches on their new Digital platform, with occasional big games. It is this they hope will bring Kenyans in droves to GOTv.
However, they face the huge challenge of convincing consumers to forego the three main local channels, which have been missing for some weeks now.
Perusing their Facebook page, it’s clear that is the main grievance.
