A Kenyan woman was arrested on Monday for smuggling quail eggs in the US.
The woman was intercepted at the Phoenix Sky Harbour Airport in Phoenix. In a press release, the US customs and boarder patrol officials said that they found 103 small eggs in her luggage. The eggs were confiscated for further analysis and that is when they realised they were quail eggs.
The United States has apparently banned the importation of wild eggs into their borders. In her defence, the unidentified woman said that she needed the eggs for her heart problem.
It is not yet clear whether she will be charged in a court.
The eggs have since been destroyed.
