In what comes as a sigh of relief to thousands of Startimes subscribers in Kenya, the three major local stations in the country(KTN, NTV, Citizen) returned on the Pay TV provider’s platform this weekend.
This was after a 2 month absence, which was allegedly brought about by a misunderstanding between Startimes and the stations. Apparently, the stations had formed a consortium hoping to get a digital signal distribution licence. Somehow, the government gave it to the Chinese, and the Kenyans have not been happy since.
Part of the reason they pulled their content from Startimes and later Signet was because they alleged that Startimes was charging its customers for free content.
The Pay TV provider has sent its subscribers text messages announcing of the return of the three.
