It’s definitely the most preferred hotel for parliamentary retreats. The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy, CORD was having their retreat there, this past weekend. Jubilee was there recently and the past parliament made it it’s second home. Great Rift Valley Lodge is it’s name.

Located 24 kilometres from Naivasha, one and a half hour drive from Nairobi, Great Rift Valley Lodge is surely one of Kenya’s finest. The Lodge is built on the Eburru, a mountain that the Maasai call Ol Donyo Opurru, meaning mountain of smoke.
It boasts of an 18-hole championship golf course, an airstrip and a magnificent nature view. It is particularly perfect for bird lovers.
Some of it’s other facilities are tennis courts, swimming pools, cycling/jogging paths, conference facilities, restaurants and a business centre. For cautious travellers, there is abundant safety deposit boxes.
The lodge also provides bush breakfast.. yes, within the lodge.

The Great Rift Valley Lodge has become a household name, especially due to the free advertising provided by our law makers.
However, despite Kenyans having knowledge of its existence, few are aware that it is owned by non other than the President himself, in extension the Kenyatta family.

Great Rift Valley Lodge is under Heritage Hotels Ltd, a company owned by the Kenyatta family. Apart from Great Rift Valley Lodge and Golf Resort, Kenyatta family through Heritage Hotels owns:
Tented Camps
Mara Explorer
Mara Intrepids
Samburu Intrepids
Voyager Ziwani

Beach Hotels
Kipungani Explorer
Voyager Beach Resort

This is of course over and above:

Brookside Dairies
Commercial Bank of Africa (CBA)
MediaMax, (K24, People, Kameme, Milele, Meru)
Several hundreds of thousands acres of land.
Peponi School
Brookhouse International School
etc
