Gor Mahia is set to hold a fundraiser to buy their coach a car. The fundraiser will be held on 30th October at Charter Hall Nairobi. According to the club’s secretary general, it has been very expensive to move the coach around, since they have to hire for him a taxi, whenever he is heading for training and other personal movements.
“It is important for a club of Gor’s caliber to have the coach having his own car. This will make his movements easy as well as reducing the club’s expenditure. It has been very expensive to pay for a taxi for the coach everyday and we saw it cheaper and wiser to have the coach get his own car,” Gor Mahia Secretary General George Bwana told sports website Michezo Afrika.
Each of Gor Mahia’s 110 branches is expected to contribute Sh 20,000 towards this ‘well thought of’ move. Should all of them honour that, over Sh 2 million will be raised internally, plus a lot more from well wishers, and as the secretary general puts it, they will not buy any other car.
“We want to buy a good car preferably a four wheel. However, we will make the final decision after the fundraiser depending on the amount we will have collected. All Branches and Friends of Gor Mahia are invited and if someone does not belong to a branch, they are still invited to come over and make their own personal contributions,” Bwana said
