Kenyan Woman Wins Goldman Environmental Prize… Pockets Sh16 Million

A Kenyan woman named Phyllis Omido had the luck of pocketing Ksh. 16.6 million ($175,000) after winning this years edition of the Goldman Environmental Prize for Africa, at an event held in San Francisco Opera House in the USA. The thirty six year old won the jackpot through her own initiative known as Center for Justice Governance and Environmental Action (CJGEA).
Miss Omido formed the CJGEA program to protest over lead poisoning in Changamwe after her child fell ill from the poisoning. Well, speaking on how she will use the money she won, she said that $75,000 of the total amount will go towards funding the project while the remainder will be for her own use and that of other projects she wishes to start.
