A man has been presented in court for stealing and conspiracy to steal money from Equity Bank.
Joshua Kirika Ndung’u, an Akorino faithful, was arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi on Tuesday. He was charged with handling stolen goods and stealing a total of Sh103,000 from Equity Bank.
The Court heard that the accused stole Sh64,840 and then Sh38,900 in different transactions on the same day.
“On April 28 at an unknown place within the Republic of Kenya otherwise than in the course of stealing dishonestly received in your family bank Ksh.64,840 knowingly or having reasons to believe it to be stolen money,” read the charge sheet.
Mr Ndung’u was also charged with conspiracy to steal Sh26 million from Equity Bank. He is alleged to have committed the offence between November 1, 2018 and April 28, 2019, jointly with others not before the court.
The accused denied the charges, saying the money was transferred to his account by his cousin.
He was released on a cashbail of Sh200,000 or Sh300,000 bond.
