Speaking during the unveiling of his flagship agenda, Kalonzo said he chose not to invite co-principals Rigathi Gachagua, Fred Matiang’i, and Martha Karua. He said he wanted to first establish and launch his campaign platform before he brings them together again for later engagements.
Kalonzo used the event to assure supporters that the opposition coalition remains united and committed to its goal of challenging President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration.
“Allow me to salute my co-principals in the United Alternative Government and to thank them sincerely for standing together as a strong team which has sworn to stand with Kenyans,” Kalonzo said.
He added, “This team, I can assure you, will stand together until we liberate this country.”
Kalonzo said he considered inviting the three leaders but chose not to for strategic reasons.
“I actually had to debate on whether to invite them, Rigathi Gachagua, Fred Matiang’i, and Martha Karua, but I said maybe when I have sorted this issue of the flagship. But for now, I know they are all watching,” he said.
The former vice president described the opposition team as a formidable political force. He also dismissed claims that differences among its leaders could derail the coalition’s plans ahead of the next General Election.
“It is a wonderful team. We know that the Kenya Kwanza administration’s only hope is that the United Alternative Government will split,” he said.
Kalonzo argued that the coalition derives its strength from unity and a shared goal: giving Kenyans an alternative leadership vision.
He added that efforts to highlight fractures within the alliance seek to weaken the opposition as it grows in influence across the country.
“Without any split, I can assure you that William Ruto is a one-term president,” Kalonzo declared.
