Award winning musician Jean Pierre Nimbona better known as Kidum honored a request by ailing events organiser Kevin Ombajo, aka Big Kev in heartwarming fashion last week.
Big Kev, who has been admitted at Nairobi Hospital for the last few months, requested to meet the singer before going under the knife – a request Kidum was more than happy to fulfill as he showed up with a guitar and his impeccable vocals.
In a post on Facebook, Kidum narrated how friends kept telling him that Big Kev wanted to pass a message to him.
He wrote: “Big Kev on his bed in Nairobi hospital told his family members that he would want to meet me before he is taken to a surgery ! First was Bruce Odhiambo who told me about a concert in carnivore about raising the funds for our friend Big Kev on this Friday but today Thursday everyone was calling me about the message Big Kev wanted to give me on his hospital bed . I couldn’t hold my tears after he spoke to me. God has spoken to me through him . He requested this song Nipe Nguvu .”
The singer also shared a video as he sang ‘Nipe Nguvu’ (Give Me Strength) and strummed his guitar by Big Kev’s bedside.
Big Kev has been battling a brain tumor for the last six years. In July 2016, he was hospitalised after a seizure and about four months later he lost his eyesight.
Last month, Kenya’s showbiz fraternity came out to raise Sh20 million for his operation. This week Friday a VVIP dinnerwill be held at the Carnivore restaurant to set the ball in motion. Afterwards, the public will be involved in the initiative.
We continue to wish him all the best.
