The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced a four-month closure of a section of Eldoret Road in Nairobi, starting May 18, 2026, at 6 am.
The road will remain inaccessible to motorists until September 18, 2026, at 6 pm. This scheduled shutdown allows crews to construct a new vehicular bridge across the Nairobi River, a strategic move to slash traffic congestion and better link surrounding neighborhoods.
During the construction period, KURA urges motorists to use the alternative routes detailed in the agency’s official traffic sketch. To maintain a smooth flow of vehicles and minimize delays, traffic police and marshals will remain on-site throughout the closure to guide drivers.
The authority requests full cooperation from the public to ensure the safety of both workers and road users during this infrastructure upgrade.
