Justice Alexander Muteti, sitting at Milimani, issued the warrant on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, upon determination that there was enough evidence to compel the suspect to travel to Kenya and be tried.
Lawyers in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) on behalf of the Republic told the court that the accused is charged with murder.
The suspect is currently out of Kenya’s jurisdiction, according to the police.
Court documents released on September 15, 2025, state charge particulars as: “that on the night of March 31/April 1, 2012, at Lions Court Lodge in Nanyuki within Laikipia County, you murdered Agnes Wanjiru Wanjiku.”
Prosecutors Vincent Monda and Gikui Gichuhi told the court that, despite comprehensive investigations, the suspect has not turned himself in to Kenyan authorities and is still outside the country.
They asked the court to issue a warrant of arrest to allow for his extradition to Kenya. The prosecution further told the court that although some witnesses are based in the UK, they would be able to testify in court during the trial.
“The witnesses are in United Kingdom but we will avail them,” the court heard.
Justice Alexander Muteti granted the request, ruling that there was sufficient reason to seek the suspect’s extradition to face trial in Kenya.
“There is probable cause to order an arrest for the accused to surrender before this court for a trial,” the judge said.
He further directed law enforcement agencies to collaborate with international partners to execute the warrant, stating: “This court grants the warrant of arrest on the national who is said not to be in the jurisdiction of Kenya.”
In the meantime, Justice Alexander Muteti prohibited the media from publishing the names of the accused individuals and any witnesses listed in the evidence, citing the need to preserve the integrity of the judicial process.
The court has set the case for mention on October 21, 2025.
